Study of psychosocial processes shaping decision-making and practice in social services—social norms, representations, core motivations, and evaluative criteria affecting inclusion and exclusion. Examination of how institutional constraints, managerialism, and accountability reshape professional discretion, definitions of vulnerability, and distributive justice within welfare systems. Grounding in Anti-Oppressive Practice and connection with social work sciences (policy, organizations, evaluation, education, and practice) to understand and reduce institutional bias, stigma, and inequalities, promoting reflexivity, equity, and rights-based services.
