The postgraduate degree course La riabilitazione della sordità del bambino e dell'adulto trains speech therapists to effectively address all issues related to hearing impairments in developmental and adult age, considering the modern diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities offered by the spread of neonatal audiologic screening programs, technological advancements in the field of hearing aids, and the cochlear implant procedure.

The postgraduate degree course provides knowledge:

  • of the foundations of normal communication and the impact of childhood hearing loss on linguistic communication development
  • of the causes of childhood and adult hearing loss
  • of neonatal audiological screening procedures and early audiological diagnosis
  • of the technology of the latest prosthetic solutions (digital hearing aids, implantable prostheses and cochlear implants).

It also provides the tools for an efficient approach to hearing-impaired patients, across various age groups, within a multidisciplinary team.

Career opportunities

Speech therapists who have completed the postgraduate degree course can find employment in operating units, services of public and private accredited healthcare companies or in private centres.
