Giovanni Lutzemberger was born in Pisa on 31/12/1981. He received his Masters degree in Land Vehicles Engineering in 2007, with a thesis entitled Fuel-Cell electric propulsion system for a small urban vehicle. He received his PhD title in Land Vehicles and Transportation System in 2011, with a thesis entitled Battery, Hybrid and Fuel-Cell vehicle propulsion systems. From 02/11 to 08/14 he holds a Research grant on Modelling and experimental tests on lithium batteries for vehicular applications. In 2014, he became Junior Assistant Professor (RTD-a) in Electric Power Systems area (ING/IND 33) at University of Pisa. In 2016, he became Senior Assistant Professor (RTD-b) in Electric Power Systems area (ING/IND 33) at University of Pisa. In 2018, he obtained the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) as Associate Professor in Electric Power Systems area (ING/IND 33). From November 2019, he assumed the role of Associate Professor. In February 2023, he obtained the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) as Full Professor. In September 2023, he became President of the Bachelor of Science in Energy Engineering. Main research topics are:
- Modelling and experimental activities on energy storage systems.
- Simulation, design and testing on electric and hybrid propulsion systems applied to road vehicles and working machines.
- Analysis of feeding systems for electrified transportation systems, also with energy storage.
