The Master’s Degree Course Telecommunications Engineering trains engineers specialised in the design and management of innovative communication systems, adapted to market demands and scientific and technological developments. Graduates will be able to design both the architecture of telecommunications systems and individual equipment or subsystems. They will be able to manage networks, services and systems for telecommunications and remote sensing.   The Master’s Degree Course is divided into two curricula:
  • Internet and wireless communications - focused on the study of wireless systems, telecommunications networks and internet technologies
  • Radar, remote sensing and RF technologies - focused on the study of electromagnetism, antennas and radar and remote sensing applications.
Throughout this course of study, students will engage in an in-depth study of various disciplines including:
  • Digital communications
  • Radar and statistical signal processing
  • Antenna engineering
  • Network metrology
  • Communication systems and cybersecurity

The curricular requirements and the adequacy of personal preparation for admission to the Master’s Degree Course, pursuant to art. 6, paragraph 2, of Ministerial Decree 270/2004, are established based on the criteria illustrated below. Admission is determined based on the presence of curricular requirements and personal preparation.

The Course Board appoints an Evaluation Instruction Panel (Commissione Istruttoria di Valutazione, CIV), consisting of two or more lecturers tasked with:

• reviewing applications for admission;

• assessing candidates’ CVs;

• checking whether candidates meet curricular and personal requirements;

- proposing to the Course Board the admission or non-admission of candidates,

- indicating how the missing requirements can possibly be met.

CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS

The candidate who obtained CFUs in the scientific-disciplinary fields (SSDs) listed below meets the curricular requirements.

SSD Group 1: MAT/01, MAT/02, MAT/03, MAT/05, MAT/06, MAT/07, MAT/08, MAT/09, FIS/01, FIS/02, FIS/03: at least 34 CFUs must have been acquired.

SSD Group 2: ING-INF/01, ING-INF/02, ING-INF/03, ING-INF/04, ING-INF/05, ING-INF/06, ING-IND/31, ING-IND/35, INF/01: at least 60 CFUs must have been acquired.

If a candidate possesses a foreign degree, the CIV Panel will review the curricular requirements by considering the duration of each course and the content of the corresponding exams.

Proficient knowledge of English at least at level B2, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, is also required. The above-mentioned knowledge is subject to verification, from which candidates holding suitable certification may be exempted.

ADEQUACY OF PERSONAL PREPARATION

In accordance with the University Academic Regulations, the CIV Panel:

- may propose to the Course Board to either accept or reject the candidate’s application based on the evaluation of the documents submitted with the application for admission,

- may propose to the Course Board that the candidate be referred to the admission interview, indicating the topics that will be covered in the interview.

For admission to the Master’s Degree Course in Communications Engineering students require a Bachelor’s Degree or another qualification obtained abroad and recognised as suitable.

Admission is determined based on the presence of curricular requirements and personal preparation. To this end, an Evaluation Instruction Panel (Commissione Istruttoria di Valutazione, CIV), consisting of two or more lecturers, is tasked with the following:

- reviewing applications for admission,

- assessing candidates’ CVs,

- checking whether candidates meet curricular and personal requirements,

- proposing to the Course Board the admission or non-admission of candidates,

- indicating how the missing requirements can possibly be met.

CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS

The candidate who obtained CFUs in the scientific-disciplinary fields (SSDs) listed below meets the curricular requirements.

34 CFUs in MAT/01, MAT/02, MAT/03, MAT/05, MAT/06, MAT/07, MAT/08, MAT/09, FIS/01, FIS/02, FIS/03: at least 34 CFUs must have been acquired.

60 CFUs in ING-INF/01, ING-INF/02, ING-INF/03, ING-INF/04, ING-INF/05, ING-INF/06, ING-IND/31, ING-IND/35, INF/01;

Total: 94 CFUs

If a candidate possesses a foreign degree, the CIV Panel will review the curricular requirements by considering the duration of each course and the content of the corresponding exams.

Proficient knowledge of English at least at level B2, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, is also required. The possession of such requirement can be certified by students at the time of enrolment or, if no certification is available, it will be verified during the curriculum review when assessing the student’s personal preparation.

PERSONAL PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS

In accordance with the University Academic Regulations, the CIV Panel:

- may propose to the Course Board to either accept or reject the candidate’s application based on the evaluation of the documents submitted with the application for admission,

- may propose to the Course Board that the candidate be referred to the admission interview, indicating the topics that will be covered in the interview, according to the procedure described below.

The purpose of the admission interview is to confirm that the candidate has the required preparation to effectively undertake their Master’s studies. Interviews are held in at least two sessions during the academic year.

The candidate may be assigned a specific selection board consisting of two or more lecturers, by order of the President of the Degree Course. The interview programme, as determined by the CIV Panel, will be communicated to the candidate in advance by the president of the Course of Study.
