Francesco Bucchi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering of the University of Pisa since 2021. He received his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2007 and his Master's degree in Vehicle Engineering in 2010, both from the University of Pisa. In 2014, he completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pisa, following a three-month study period at Prof. Elahinia Lab, University of Toledo, USA.

He is the author of approximately 50 articles in peer-reviewed international journals and has contributed to an equal number of international and Italian conferences. He is the inventor of six national and international patents and co-author of a chapter in the book "SMA Actuation Mechanisms", published by John Wiley & Sons.
Since 2022, he has been a full member of the Patent Commission at the University of Pisa.

His research interests focus on the mechanical behavior of materials and multibody simulation of vehicles and innovative structures (structural analysis and vibrations).

Regarding teaching, Prof. Bucchi is responsible for the Automotive Engineering Design Course within the Master's Degree Program in Automotive Engineering at UniPi, and since September 2023, he has been the President of the Professional-Oriented Degree Program in "Techniques for Mechanics and Production".
