Step 1: Read the Call and follow the guide
Before you begin, read the official Call for Applications, the individual PhD programme descriptions, and the annexes carefully.
Use the step-by-step guide to correctly complete the online application.
Step 2: Register on Alice
If you have never done so, register on the Alice Portal. Be very careful when entering your personal information, which must exactly match the details on the identity document you will upload during the online procedure.
If you have already used the University of Pisa’s online services, you can skip this step.
Step 3: Submit your application online
Log into your personal area on the Alice Portal, complete the application, and upload the required documents:
- Signed CV
- Research proposal (only if required in the individual PhD programme description)
- Self-certification if applying as a civil servant (Annex 1)
- Self-certification of University Degree (Annex 2)
- A Declaration from your employer if you are applying as an employee under an agreement (Annex 3)
- A self-certification if you are applying as a grant or research fellowship holder (Annex 4)
- VIDEO form (only if required in the individual PhD programme description)
- Only for candidates with a foreign qualification: degree certificate and any supporting documentation (see Article 3 of the Call)
If required, also provide the names and contact details (email addresses and phone numbers) of referees (professors or researchers) willing to submit reference letters.
Failure to upload references will not result in exclusion, but remember: a separate CV is required for each selection.
Step 4: Pay the application fee (€30.00)
Make the payment by 11:59 p.m. (Italian time) on 18 July 2025 via PagoPA (available at the end of the online procedure).
The payment covers multiple selections within the same PhD programme and is non-refundable, except in the cases outlined in the Call.
Important: If payment has been made but not yet processed, you will still be admitted conditionally, pending verification.
Step 5: Receipt and pre-enrolment number
At the end of the procedure, print and keep the receipt: it serves as proof of your application submission and includes your pre-enrolment number, which you will need to anonymously check the results of the curriculum evaluation and examinations on www.studenti.unipi.it.
