Her research interests range from 18th-century literature to Modernism and Postmodernism. She has published volumes and essays on the beginnings of female professional writing, the early eighteenth-century novel, Gothic fiction, contemporary drama and narrative. Her publications include "La scrittura come travestimento dellio. La narrativa di Flann OBrien" (1995), "La nascita di un genere. Il novel del primo Settecento" (2002), "Ian McEwan" (2012). She has also devoted specific attention to the study of travel literature (Henry Fielding, Mary Wollstonecraft, Lady Blessington) and to Anglo-Italian cultural relations (Addison, Smollett, Sharp, Baretti, Landor). She has recently published a volume on Walter Savage Landor and Italy ("L'Italia di Walter Savage Landor", 2022).
