Pietro Ducange received the Laurea Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2005, where he started a Ph.D. in Information Engineering in 2006.
Since earning a Ph.D. in 2009, Pietro Ducange worked as a research fellow at the Department of Information Engineering, of the University of Pisa. He was visiting researcher at the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Granada, Spain (3 months in 2008 and 1 month in 2012).
Pietro Ducange got the Italian National Scientific Qualifications to function as Full Professor in Information processing systems (code 09/H1) in 2022.
In June 2014, Pietro Ducange started working at the eCampus University, an Italian Distance Learning University, as Associate Professor. He was the Director of the SMART Engineering Solutions & Technologies (SMARTEST) Research Centre and the Coordinator of Business and Computational Intelligence (BCI) research group from November 2015 to April 2019.
From May 2019, Pietro Ducange has been an Associate Professor at the University of Pisa at the Department of Information Engineering, which has been appointed for the second time as Excellence Department by the Italian Ministry of Research and Education. He is a member of the Cloud Computing, Big Data & Cybersecurity Lab (https://crosslab.dii.unipi.it/cloud-computing-big-data-cybersecurity-lab).
Research Activities:
Over the last years, much of Prof. Ducanges research work has concentrated on Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, with a special focus on eXplainable AI (XAI), federated learning, big data and data streaming mining and text analysis.
