Laureata in Scienze dellantichità presso l'Università di Pisa (2008), ha ottenuto il titolo di dottore di ricerca in Storia con una tesi in cotutela fra l'Università di Pisa e l'Université Paris IV Sorbonne (2013). È stata in seguito Research Fellow presso il Seeger Center for Hellenic Studies dellUniversità di Princeton (2015-2016), ricercatrice post-dottorale allUniversità di Bamberg nell'ambito dell'ERC Starting Grant A.C.O. ("The Proceedings of the Ecumenical Councils from Oral Utterance to Manuscript Edition as Evidence for Late Antique Persuasion and Self-Representation Techniques", 2016-2020) e borsista della Gerda Henkel Stiftung (2020-2021).
Ha esercitato attività d'insegnamento come docente a contratto di storia bizantina alla Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität di Monaco (2018-2019) e all'Université Paris Sorbonne (2021). Dal 2010 è membro dell'UMR 8167 Orient et Méditerranée di Parigi (CNRS - Collège de France), dapprima come dottoranda, poi come membro associato. Il suo libro "Constantinople et les provinces dAsie Mineure, IXe-XIe siècle. Administration impériale, sociétés locales et rôle de laristocratie" (2017) ha ottenuto la medaglia Charles et Marguerite Diehl de l'Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres.
I suoi interessi di ricerca si concentrano sulla storia amministrativa e sociale dell'impero bizantino, in particolare sulla società aristocratica e la cultura della corte fra l'VIII e il XII secolo. Si è occupata anche delle pratiche documentarie dell'amministrazione imperiale e della burocrazia palatina in epoca tardoantica. Più recentemente, ha esteso le sue indagini al dibattito interreligioso e agli scambi interculturali, alla storia della famiglia e alla storia di genere.
Nel 2020, il suo progetto "Otherness and Identity in Byzantine Anti-Islamic Polemics of the 12th and 13th Centuries" è stato finanziato dalla Gerda Henkel Stiftung; dal 2022 è responsabile scientifico del progetto di ricerca di ateneo PRA DAFNE - Divino al femminile.
Luisa Andriollo holds a master degree in Classics from the University of Pisa (2008), and a joint PhD in History from the University of Pisa and Université Paris IV Sorbonne (2013). She has taught courses in Byzantine history at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich (2018-2019) and at the Université Paris Sorbonne (2021). Her research interests focus on the administrative and social history of the Byzantine Empire, particularly on aristocratic society and court culture between the 8th and 12th centuries. She has also carried out research on the the documentary practices of the palatine bureaucracy in Late Antiquity. More recently, she has extended her investigations to interfaith debates and cross-cultural exchange, family history and gender history.
In 2020, her project "Otherness and Identity in Byzantine Anti-Islamic Polemics of the 12th and 13th Centuries" was funded by the Gerda Henkel Stiftung; since 2022, she is the scientific head of the University Research Project (PRA) DAFNE - Divino al femminile.
