November 1990. Laurea in Physics at the University of Pisa on the functional integration measure in quantum gravity, supervisor prof. P. Menotti.

November 1990. Degree in Physics of the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa.

September 1991 – August 1994. Graduate studies in the elementary particle sector of
Sissa/Isas (Trieste).

October 1994. Ph.D. degree at Sissa/Isas (Trieste, Italy) with a thesis on topological field theory in four dimensions, supervisor prof. P. Fré.

Academic Iter

August 1994 – September 1996: research associate (post-doc) at Harvard University,
Massachusetts, US, in the string theory group lead by C. Vafa.

October 1996 – September 1998: research associate (post-doc) at the Center de Physique Theorique (CPTH), Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France, in the string theory group lead by I. Antoniadis and C. Bachas.

October 1998 – September 2000: research associate (Fellow) at CERN, Geneva,
Switzerland.

October 2000 – March 2005: assistant professor in theoretical physics at the Physics Department “E. Fermi”, University of Pisa (permanent position).

July 2004 – September 2004: visitor at the Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Fisicas (CBPF), Rio de Janeiro

March 2005 – now: associate professor in theoretical physics at the Physics Department of the University of Pisa (permanent position).

September 2010 – September 2011: visiting professor at the Institute of High Energy
Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, while in sabbatical leave from Pisa
