Assistant Professor at University of Pisa since 2005, Dr Baldassare Fronte graduated on Animal Production and he got his PhD in 1999. So fare, he has been working on several animal species such as ruminant (dairy cattle and sheep) and game (pheasant, partridge and hare). However, since 2006 Dr Fronte main research field of research activities is Aquaculture and his research mainly focus on rearing system, reproduction and nutrition of marine species such as European sea bass (Dicentrachus labrax), gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata), greater amberjack (Seriola dumerili), octopus (Octopus vulgaris).
Recently, in partnership with foreign companies and Universities, some research projects have been carried out on the effect of 1,3-1,6 β-glucan on seabream larvae stress resistance and on zebrafish (Danio rerio) wound healing.
Dr Fronte has also lead teaching activities at BSc, MSc and post-graduate level on the following subjects: Animal Nutrition and Dietetics, Feed production Technologies, Principles of fish nutrition and feeding, Aquaculture and fish products quality.
Dr Fronte has also attended to several international conferences, he is member of World Poultry Science Association (WPSA) and European Aquaculture Society (EAS), and he has published more several scientific papers.
