My research activity is primarily concerned with fatigue analysis and structural integrity, with a focus on the development and application of advanced numerical methods and experimental procedures to evaluate the behavior of different materials when subjected to complex loading conditions. My research includes the development of complex numerical analyses to predict residual stresses and the implementation of innovative approaches for fatigue assessment of components subjected to multiaxial and non-proportional loading conditions. In particular, I have developed, together with Prof. Frendo, the Effective Critical Plane (ECP) method, an innovative approach designed for evaluating the fatigue behavior of notched components subjected to complex loading scenarios. In addition, I perform static and fatigue investigation of welded joints and materials made via additive manufacturing and characterize the structural integrity of composite, polymeric, and metallic materials. These activities have wide applications in both industrial and academic settings.
