1990: short training periods at the department of Neuromorphology, Max−Planck Institute, Munich and at the Dept. of Pharmacology, University of California at Los Angeles.

1991−1992: postdoctoral training at the Institute for Neurophysiology, National Research Council (CNR), Pisa.

Past and present research interests:

1) cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the transduction and processing of visual stimuli by rod photoreceptors;

2) cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the generation of oxidative stress in neuronal and endothelial cells;

3) functional evaluation of spontaneous mutants and KO mice for their use in translational research.

4) functional evaluation of rod-fated cells derived from stem cells or reprogrammed fibroblasts
