Fiorella Battaglia (1960) is an associate professor at the Chair of Philosophy and Political Theory at the Ludwig-Maximilians- University of Munich (Germany). 2013-2017 Fiorella Battaglia was Gender Equality Representative of the Faculty. She was the principal investigator in the EU funded Project “RoboLaw. Regulating emerging robotic technologies in Europe: Robotics facing law and ethics”. Furthermore, she was the principal investigator in the EU-funded project “Credits4Health. Credits-based, people-centric approach for the adoption of healthy lifestyles and balanced Mediterranean diet in the frame of social participation and innovation for health promotion“. Since May 2015 she is the principal investigator in the EU-funded project “Re.Cri.Re - Between the representation of the crisis and the crisis of representation. How crisis changed the symbolic background of European societies and identities. Implication for policies and policy-making“ (EU Horizon 2020). From July 2006 until June 2010 she was a member of the research staff at the Berlin Academy of Sciences and Humanities, participating in the interdisciplinary research project “Functions of consciousness”, which was funded by the German Ministry of Research and Universities (BMBF). From 2007 until 2008 she was a visiting scholar at The Center for Sleep and Consciousness, Department of Psychiatry of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, headed by Prof. Giulio Tononi. Her fields of interest include political philosophy, ethics, philosophical anthropology, human self-understanding and the human-machine relationship. She has authored numerous publications in various fields of philosophy. She organized the symposium “Philosophical and ethical aspects of robotics” at the first edition of the international robotics festival (Pisa, September 2017) and the symposium "Extra Dimension or Dematerialisation? Ancient and Modern Articulations for Robotic and Cybernetic Technologies" at the second edition of the international robotics festival (Pisa, September-October 2018).
