Francesca Simorini ha conseguito la laurea in Farmacia presso l’Università di Pisa nel 1989. Dal 1991 ha lavorato presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Farmaceutiche di Pisa, sino al 2003 nel ruolo di collaboratore tecnico e come ricercatore dal 2004 ad oggi, nell’ambito del settore scientifico disciplinare CHIM 08- Chimica Farmaceutica. La sua attività comprende la sintesi e la caratterizzazione di nuovi derivati eterociclici con potenziale attività farmacologica, con applicazione nei seguenti campi: inibitori dell’Aldoso Reduttasi (ARI); ligandi al Recettore Centrale delle Benzodiazepine (“CBR”); ligandi al Recettore Periferico delle Benzodiazepine (“TSPO”); intercalanti nel DNA con potenziale attività antiproliferativa, antagonisti dell’Adenosina Deaminasi e antagonisti selettivi del recettore A3 dell’Adenosina.

Francesca Simorini received her Pharmacy degree from University of Pisa in 1989. She remained at Pisa University- Department of Medicinal Chemistry - where worked from 1991 to 2003 as a technician and since 2004 as an assistant professor. Her research was directed towards the design and synthesis of heterocyclic systems potentially active in various medicinal chemistry fields, such as aldose reductase inhibitors (“ARIs”), central benzodiazepine receptor (“CBR”) ligands, peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (“TSPO”) ligands. Moreover, she was involved in the synthesis of polyheterocyclic molecules showing cytotoxic activity mainly attributable to an intercalative mode of binding to DNA and, more recently, in the synthesis of adenosine deaminase inhibitors (ADA) and of A3 adenosine receptor selective antagonists.
