Master in Neuroscience
This MSc programme will contribute to Pisa’s reputation of excellence in Neuroscience, pioneered by Giuseppe Moruzzi in the 1950s and 60s and developed thereafter by Lamberto Maffei.
Owing to this legacy, Pisa offers a very active and competitive scientific environment for studies in Neuroscience.
The aim of the course is to provide interdisciplinary training thatspans across a wide variety of experimental and computational approaches to contemporary Neuroscience, from the molecular and cellular level to the analysis of higher cognitive functions in the human brain.
The course is designed to not only attract students possessing a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree in a strictly biological field, but also students coming from a wide range of different educational routes.

Master in Materials and Nanotechnology
The first year will focus on building and standardising a common knowledge about materials amongst the physicists, chemists and engineers admitted onto the course.
The second year entails a specialised course divided into two topics, “Nanoscience and Nanotechnology” and “Advanced Materials”.
The main career opportunities for graduates in Materials and Nanotechnology are: innovation and development of production, advanced design, planning and scheduling, management of complex systems and the qualification and diagnosis of materials.

Master in Exploration and Applied Geophysics
Exploration and Applied Geophysics is a discipline that combines principles of physics with knowledge of geology, engineering and digital signal processing to develop non-invasive investigation methods and techniques aimed at studying the Earth’s subsurface (from few centimeters to few kilometers), as well as human artefacts.
Our graduates develop strong interdisciplinary skills and learn how to use an approach which is oriented towards problem solving.
By the end of the programme, they will possess a high quality curriculum attractive to many innovative industries acting in the worldwide “geophysical market”.
This market includes the geophysics for natural resources (hydrocarbon, geothermal, mining), environment, civil engineering and archaeology.

Master in Computer Engineering
The MSc provides a solid and in-depth education that enables its graduates to design, develop, analyse and integrate highly complex and heterogeneous computer systems.
The course includes a common set of learning activities, which cover methodological and engineering disciplines and completes the expertise in computer engineering.
Students can then choose among three tracks, namely: Computer Systems and Networks (CSN), Cyber-physical Systems (CPS), and Cybersecurity (SEC).
The first one advances further on large-scale computing and networking infrastructures, the second one provides students with expertise on embedded systems and the internet of things and, finally, the last one focuses on the design of secure systems and applications.
