Martedì 12 settembre, alle ore 8.00, presso l'Aula Magna del Dipartimento di Scienze Agrarie, Alimentari e Agro-ambientali avrà luogo il convegno dal titolo "Towards circular economy in the agri-food sector: strategies and challenges".
Si tratta dell'evento conclusivo del progetto EU “FrEsh fooD sustainable pacKaging In The circular ecOnomy” (FEDKITO) che propone materiali di imballaggio innovativi e biodegradabili.

L’obiettivo del progetto FEDKITO è creare strumenti innovativi per la gestione sostenibile di insetti e funghi che attaccano il cibo fresco in post-raccolta/produzione. L’”imballaggio intelligente” a base di chitosano e i biosensori sviluppati nell’ambito del progetto ridurranno i contaminanti organici negli alimenti freschi, prolungando la durata di conservazione e migliorando le loro qualità. Secondo i criteri dell’economia circolare, il chitosano sarà ottenuto da pupe e larve ricche di chitina della mosca soldato nera Hermetia illucens (Diptera Stratiomyidae), allevate con prodotti alimentari freschi di scarto.
