Master in Cybersecurity
The Master's Degree in Cybersecurity is a two-years programme that responds to the growing need for training of specialists with high scientific and technological expertise in the field of cybersecurity.
To this end, it provides its graduates with a deep knowledge of the scientific foundations, methodologies and technologies of the area, which allows them to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and to be able to deal with cybersecurity issues in the most diverse application areas.
The course is entirely held in English.

Assegni e borse di ricerca
La procedura di richiesta nulla osta per ricerca (Convenzione d’accoglienza, richiesta di nulla osta online sul sito del Ministero dell’Interno e successivo rilascio c/o la Prefettura) si applica anche ai cittadini non UE regolarmente soggiornanti in possesso di permesso di soggiorno per "studio", che risultino vincitori di assegno o borsa di ricerca dell’Ateneo.
Prima di poter iniziare l’attività di ricerca contemplata nel bando, e soprattutto percepire la borsa, il Dipartimento di pertinenza dovrà seguire le istruzioni alla pagina www.unipi.it/index.php/ingresso-e-soggiorno-in-italia/itemlist/category/141-visto-d-ingresso-per-ricerca-nulla-osta per ottenere il "nulla osta per ricerca", rilasciato dal SUI (Servizio Unico Immigrazione c/o la Prefettura).
Successivamente al rilascio del nulla osta a favore del vincitore non UE, quest’ultimo dovrà far richiesta di conversione del permesso di soggiorno da “studio” a “ricerca”.
Solo dopo aver fatto la richiesta di conversione del permesso di soggiorno, lo studioso potrà iniziare l’attività di ricerca e quindi percepire la borsa.

GREAT scholarships per studiare nel Regno Unito
Per la prima volta, l'iniziativa GREAT Scholarships è disponibile per gli studenti italiani per l'a.a. 2025-2026. Il programma assegna a 8 studenti italiani una borsa di studio del valore di almeno £10.000, che copre le tasse universitarie per un corso post-laurea di un anno presso prestigiose università del Regno Unito.
Le borse di studio sono finanziate congiuntamente dalla campagna GREAT Britain del governo britannico e dal British Council, insieme alle istituzioni di istruzione superiore del Regno Unito partecipanti. A livello globale, per l'a.a. 2025-26, sono disponibili 230 borse di studio GREAT, offerte da 73 università britanniche, per studenti provenienti da 18 paesi.
Per l'a.a. 2025-2026, le borse di studio post-laurea per studenti italiani sono disponibili presso le seguenti istituzioni:

Requisiti per la candidatura: i candidati devono essere cittadini italiani, soddisfare tutti i requisiti per l'accesso al programma di studio selezionato e aver ricevuto l'ammissione all'università specifica. I candidati selezionati saranno inoltre incoraggiati a ricoprire il ruolo di ambasciatori del programma GREAT Scholarships e a partecipare a eventi di networking.

NTU Taiwan
The classification released by the National Taiwan University uses bibliometric methods (i.e, the number of scientific articles and received citations), to compare the best 800 universities in the world.
In the 2021 edition, the University of Pisa is placed 227th internationally and 7th in Italy.
Beyond global rankings, NTU also provides a classification for 6 specific fields (NTU by Field), and one for 24 selected subjects (NTU by Subject).
The University of Pisa, among the Italian universities, is placed 5th in the NTU by Field for "Natural Sciences", and 8th for "Agriculture", while in the NTU by Subject it is placed 2nd for "Physics", 12th for "Agricultural Science" and 6th for "Space Science".

Times Higher Education (THE)
The classification developed by THE is based on 13 performance indicators that encompass all areas of activity of the university: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and global image. The classification compares around 1200 universities worldwide.
In the 2022 edition, whose results were published in 2021, the University of Pisa is ranked in the position range 401-500 at a worldwide level and in 14th place in Italy.
Beyond global rankings (World University Rankings), THE provides a classification by discipline (THE by Subject), evaluating disciplines grouped into 11 sectors.
In the 2022 edition, Computer Science is placed in the 251-300 position range, while Engineering, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Arts and Humanities are placed in the position range 301-400.

Quacquarelli-Symonds (QS)
The classification developed by the agency QS is based on academic performance data, both structural and reputational.
The QS ranking conducts a census on around 1000 universities worldwide.
In the 2022 edition, the University of Pisa is ranked in 388th place worldwide, and 7th in Italy, maintaining as its strong points academic reputation (207th) and the quality of scientific production (321st) where the University has gone up by 48 places from the 2021 edition. In the QS classification, the University of Pisa confirms the constant improvement in progress since 2017: since then it has gained a total of about 50 positions in an absolute sense (from the 431-440 position range to the 388th position), and as many as 14 percentage points, entering in the first third of the ranking itself.
In addition to the global ranking, QS also draws up a ranking by discipline (QS by Subject), evaluating 48 disciplines grouped into 5 macro areas.
In the 2021 edition, the University of Pisa is present in all macro-areas. In particular, the University ranked 18th in the world for "Classics and Ancient History" (3rd in Italy after La Sapienza in Rome and the Scuola Normale Superiore), and 18th in the world for "Physics & Astronomy" (2nd place in Italy after La Sapienza in Rome).
Finally, QS also draws up the Graduate Employability Rankings, a ranking on the ability of universities to guarantee employment prospects for their graduates. The ranking analyses about 500 universities around the world.
The criteria used are the reputation of universities with employers, partnerships with businesses, the success of graduates in their careers, the active presence of companies in the University in the last twelve months and the employment rate of graduates a year after graduating.
In the 2020 edition, the University of Pisa ranked in the 161-170 range worldwide and 7th place in Italy.
