Protecting the EU’s financial interest: role of European Court of Auditors and the cooperation with Italian Corte dei conti

Activities planned in the Jean Monnet Law of National and European Financial Interests module comprised seven teaching activities (T), ten deliverables (D) and six events(E). Teaching activities were planned around the following topics: T1 History and organisation of the European Court of Auditors (ECA) T2 European Court of Auditors functions T3 Methods and control procedures of the European Court of Auditors T4 Cooperation between the European Court of Auditors and the EU Supreme Audit Institutions T5 Cooperation between European Court of Auditors and the Italian Court of Auditors (Corte dei Conti) T6 Prevention and combating of irregularities and frauds to protect the EU financial interests T7 OLAF and the protection of EU financial Interests. Deliverables: D1 lecture from ECA members in webinar format linked to E1; D2 production of e-documents on the legal bases of mandate, organisation and methodology of the European Court of Auditors; D3 analysis of case studies of the Court of Auditors (e-publication); D4 e-publication on ECA activities; D5 one video on ECA-Italian court of auditors relations web-streamed. D6 e-publication on ECA-Italian court of auditors (case studies) D7 e-publication on Cooperation in control of EU funds D8 e-publication on anti-fraud activities and EU control on budget D9 e-publication on Protecting EU’s financial interests: experiences and perspectives D10 website, web forum, 8 newsletters per year. Events E1 2-hour conference-webinar from ECA members E2 workshop on case studies ECA activities. E3 Study visit to the Italian Court of Auditors (Rome, Italy), 1 per year E4 workshop on ECA-Italian Court of Auditors (case studies) E5 conference-webinar on ECA-Supreme audit institutions E6 Roundtable “Cooperating with the anti-fraud office”.
