On 20–21 November 2025, Circle U. celebrated its fifth anniversary with a series of events held in Vienna. The University European Alliance brings together the University of Pisa and eight other leading European universities.
At the conclusion of the celebrations, university leaders and student representatives re-elected Julia von Blumenthal, President of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, as Circle U. President. They also welcomed the proposed new members of the Management Board and the student representatives, and discussed the progress of the Open Campus initiative and the Academic Chair programme.
Participants further reflected on the future direction of the alliance beyond 2027 and exchanged views on recent EU-level developments affecting higher education.
The University of Pisa was represented by Rector Riccardo Zucchi, the Chair of Management Board Giovanni Federico Gronchi, and several members of the staff involved in the project.
