Abstract
Innovative ideas generated from public research are in an embryonic stage. While developing them until the commercial stage requires direct involvement of researchers, it is also crucial that researchers fully understand the complexity of innovation. In my talk, I will use examples of ideas for new products, successes and failures in order to build up a general framework for analyzing the prospects for innovation. This applies not only to start-ups but also to innovation in established companies.
