The University of Pisa unveils its new website and launches an online magazine

The new portal www.unipi.it is online as of Tuesday, May 13

A website with updated design and content, along with a new online magazine to tell the story of university life and its many initiatives. As of Tuesday, May 13, the University of Pisa’s new institutional portal (www.unipi.it) is online. The site has undergone a major redesign as part of the University’s strategy to improve communication and interaction with both the academic community and the wider public.

“The new website,” said Vice Rector and Communication Delegate Giuseppe Iannaccone, “is an important step in renewing the University’s communication approach. We wanted to create a tool that is accessible, clear, and dynamic—not just a source of information, but also a showcase for the activities and values of the University of Pisa. The portal aims to be a reference point for those seeking services and opportunities, but also a channel for dialogue with society, the region, and the academic world, in line with our mission of openness and inclusivity.”

A modern and accessible platform

The new website is designed to offer an optimal user experience, with intuitive navigation and a clean, modern layout. Special attention was given to mobile access, ensuring smooth browsing on smartphones and tablets. Among the main updates is the introduction of expandable mega menus that make it easier to navigate the site, as well as individual pages dedicated to all staff members.

A magazine to tell the University’s story

Alongside the website redesign, a new online magazine called Unipinews has been launched, created to share the life of the University of Pisa in a dynamic and engaging way. Through articles, interviews, and reports, the magazine will highlight research activities, cultural events, student and faculty success stories, and international collaborations involving the University.

A user-driven project

The redesign of the website and the launch of the magazine were the result of a design process focused on user experience. Tests were conducted with internal and external users following a User Experience (UX) approach, to understand audience needs and expectations. This work generated valuable feedback that guided the project and helped create digital tools that are more effective and aligned with user needs.

A collaborative effort

The project was carried out by the University of Pisa’s Communications Office, IT System, and other relevant departments, with consulting support from Ubics, the Digital Experience Agency of Var Group. This collaboration brought together diverse expertise, helping ensure a final result that meets expectations.
