The University of Pisa is not a campus-based university and instead has its buildings and departments spread throughout the city. In terms of accommodation, students and University guests usually rent private rooms or apartments at a price of around €350 per month. Usually students find an apartment to share with other Italian or foreign colleagues by checking out postings placed on bulletin boards in each of the University's departments. In general, the monhtly rent do not include the consumption of gas, telephone and electricity nor the individual share of general expenses for the building's maintenance. In the majority of cases, landlords require a deposit of one to two month's rent. This deposit will be given back at the expiration of the contract.
In addition to this, students and guests of the University of Pisa are now able to benefit from a series of discounts and promotions on accomodation prices, thanks to a number of agreements made by the University with various housing facilities in the city. Special rates are offered by Residence Le Benedettine, the hotel Abitalia Tower Plaza, the Residence San Rossore and Paim Turismo.
DSU (Regional "Right to Study" Programme) provides various services to University students and offers assistance to students who are searching for accommodation in Pisa. In fact, DSU offers places from their own accommodation facilities to students who are living away from home and who meet certain financial requirements. Students enrolled at the University of Pisa can apply for accommodation in one of the 1,534 places which are provided by the DSU.
