tucahea_delegazioneIn the month of June, twenty four delegates from the countries involved in the TuCAHEA Tempus project (grantholder the University of Groningen; scientific coordination by the University of Pisa) visited Rome, Pisa and Groningen, for a round of meetings, workshops and information sessions. The activities were hosted by the University of Pisa and of Groningen (The Netherlands), by the Tuning Academy and by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research of Italy (MIUR).

During the visit a Communiqué regarding the Central Asian Higher Education Area (CAHEA) was illustrated by the representatives of the Ministries of Education of the TuCAHEA partner countries. The Communiqué comprises an agreement to explore how the Central Asian countries can collaborate further in the interests of the quality and visibility of their higher education systems, in a world framework. The signature ceremony took place in Rome at the Italian Ministry ("Sala dei Cristalli") on the morning of 16 June 2014 in the presence of the Director General for Universities, Dr. Daniele Livon, and of the Italian members of the Bologna Follow-up Group (BFUG).

During the visit the delegates (including the Ministerial representatives, several pro-Rectors and a number of Heads of Department) continued their work on the Guidelines and Reference Points which are being prepared for eight key Subject Areas, prepared for participation in the new EU programmes in the areas of Higher Education and Research (Erasmus+ and Horizon2020), organized the TuCAHEA Pilot Student Mobility scheme, and examined models for creating a Central Asian Credit Reference System and a Central Asian Qualifications Framework.
