In Pisa the first meeting of UZHELTH

The European Project involves the Higher Education Institutions and the Ministries of the republic of Uzbekistan

Public Health and Food Safety at the centre of the first meeting of UZHELTH, the European Project which involves the Higher Education Institutions and the Ministries of the republic of Uzbekistan, coordinated by the University of Pisa.uzbekistan2uzbekistan1

From 12 to 18 February the University of Pisa is hosting an international delegation which will be busy discussing and working on the themes at the centre of the project. During the week they will also visit the relevant health structures in Pisa and in the Tuscany Region. On arrival, the guests were welcomed in the Rectorate Alessandra Guidi, Pro-Rector for Internationalisation and Coordinator of the project, and by Ann Katherine Isaacs, Rector's Delegate for European Programmes.

The UZHELTH project, which is a TEMPUS Structural Measures project, aims at the modernisation and the harmonisation of the present systems and requirements for the study of all the persons who will operate, at all levels, in the fields of Human health, Environment and Food Safety, and Veterinary Medicine, improving their capacity to cooperate with one another thanks to a common platform, in order to reach a high state of well-being for the entire population of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek partners are Andijan state medical Institute (ASMI); Bukhara state medical institute (BSMI); Bukhara state university (BSU); Karakalpak state university (KKSU); Samarkand agricultural Institute (SamAI); Samarkand state medical institute (SamMI); Tashkent state agrarian university (TSAU); Tashkent state agrarian university Nukus branch (NuTSAU); Tashkent medical academy (TMA); Tashkent Pediatric medical institute (TPMI); Ministry of Higher and secondary specialized education.The European partners are Ghent University; the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, University of Porto. In addition to the Ministry of Higher Education, also the Ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources and the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan are represented in this first meeting, and will soon become official partners.
