In-presence INCOMING mobility will be started according to the updated Additional Provisions to the Rector Decree of 31 August 2020 on precautionary measures to limit the Covid-19 spread in the Phase 3 (consolidated version of the Safety Protocol against Covid-19 Spread in Phase 3 which will be valid until 31 December 2020).

As regards study mobility, some Degree Programmes will start in-presence teaching activities again, welcoming mobility international students, as long as they come from non-high-risk areas and prior space availability check in classrooms and laboratories of the University of Pisa. In-presence students acceptance will be notified only after completing the teaching activities planning.

If students are not allowed to attend in-presence activities, the University of Pisa is entitled to reject in-presence mobility for those students who come to Pisa to attend online lessons.

As regards traineeship, curricular and extracurricular trainings will be reactivated making any communication needed with project partners and within the mutual bilateral relationships, after having checked the availability to host mobility students with the Unit responsible. The above traineeships will be carried out according to the same procedures and conditions set for traineeships performed in the University premises. The University tutor/ Degree Programme Director declaration, available at: Mobilità internazionale. Le nuove modalità di gestione shall be made by the competent Area Coordinator for Internationalization (CAI).

In-presence activities

If in-presence activity is required at the Department, it will be agreed in spaces allowing social distancing and with 2 access points for entry and exit procedures to avoid contacts.

Students will be required to take all hygienic and preventive measures (hands sanitization and face masks) and respect the university organization (scheduled teachers’ interviews, social distancing measures) as required by the Safety Protocol against Covid-19 Spread in Phase 3, currently valid and available on the website at the following link: Protocollo di sicurezza anti-contagio. Fase 3

Constantly updated mandatory restrictions and requirements are set for people coming from foreign countries, according to their country of origin and travel motivation. At present time, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, several groups of countries have to undergo specific restrictions (Focus: Italian nationals returning to Italy and foreigners in Italy).

As the restriction measures may utterly change, before travelling please remember to check the website as well as the websites of the Local Health Agency (Azienda USL Toscana nord ovest) and of the Regione Toscana.

In particular, for students coming from several foreign countries it is mandatory to undergo a 14-day period of fiduciary isolation/health survaillance and to notify their entry into the Italian national borders to the Prevention Department of the Local Health Agency - Azienda Sanitaria USL Toscana nord ovest (Dipartimento di Prevenzione dell’Azienda Sanitaria USL Toscana nord ovest), filling in the form available at:

Italian: Segnalazione ingresso in Italia
English: Reporting your entry into Italy

Domicile address and phone number shall be provided, along with all information needed for contact tracing.

Please note that the student is personally liable for this and the University of Pisa has no obligation.

Upon arrival in Pisa, the student will be allowed to isolate in a flat with other persons after having informed the flat owner and the other persons living in the same flat.

Fiduciary isolation period requires to stay home and avoid going out if not strictly necessary (i.e. ask for medical assistance):

  • go out only for medical assistance;
  • do not use public transport (bus, metro or taxi);
  • do not allow visiting people in your flat;
  • ask friends or relatives that are not in isolation/lockdown to help you with foodstuff or other necessities.
  • If going out for medical assistance, always wear a face mask.
  • If you live with other persons, always respect social distancing, especially from people with high risk for complications (in Tuscany the suggested social distancing is 1.8 mt), hand sanitazion and respiratory measures (use of face mask in shared spaces), use of dedicated toilet utilities or alternatively use chlorine-based products to sanitize after use, avoid sharing spaces or objects/devices (towels, mobile phones, laptops, Pc ect.).
  • Make yourself available for contacts by the Public Hygiene operators for active health survaillance.

If isolation is not possible at the domicile declared upon arrival in Italy or at any other domicile given to the Local Health Prevention Department, some residences are available for this purpose.

In this case, students will be allowed to the premises of the University only after filling a self-certification to the person in charge of the premises attesting the concluded isolation/health survaillance period or any other restrictive or preventive measures (nasopharyngeal swab) required by the health authorities.

It is highly recommended to students to sign up to National Health Service upon arrival in Pisa to get the public health insurance and a general practitioner.
