Diploma Supplement

The Diploma Supplement is the supplementary certification of the qualification obtained at the end of a course of study at a university or higher education institution.

It is a certificate that provides the description, according to a shared model, of the nature, level, context, content, and status of the studies carried out and completed by each student.

The Diploma Supplement was developed through the initiative of the European Commission, the Council of Europe and Unesco/Cepes and aims to overcome the obstacles that do not allow the adequate use and recognition of qualifications.

The Diploma Supplement facilitates the evaluation of study paths and promotes the international mobility of students and workers. It contains official data on the student's education, excluding discretionary evaluations, equivalence declarations or suggestions relating to recognition. It serves to make the same qualification more transparent because it integrates it with the description of the curriculum followed, thus making the academic and professional recognition of Italian qualifications abroad and the free international circulation of our graduates easier.

All students from the University of Pisa who have obtained a three-year degree and/or a specialist/master’s degree can obtain their diploma supplement free of charge, in both Italian and English by:

• printing it directly from the reserved area of the Alice student portal
• using the procedure for issuing certificates

An example of the full version of the diploma supplement issued is available here.
