The student representatives of the Circle U. Student Union (CUSU) convened in Pisa for their annual in-person meeting. CUSU brings together student representatives elected within the governing bodies of the nine universities that form the Circle U. European University Alliance.

During the days of the Pisa Physical Seminar, the students had the opportunity to engage with academic staff and faculty members involved in various Circle U. initiatives. Among them were Alessio Cavicchi and Alessandra Meoni, who contribute to the working group on Societal Engagement, as well as Francesco Marcelloni, who presented the current developments and future plans of the Knowledge Hub on Artificial Intelligence, which he coordinates within the Alliance.

As part of the Seminar, the students also worked on drafting a new Position Paper outlining their views on student wellbeing within Circle U., with a particular focus on mental health. The aim of this document is to share best practices for creating services that promote wellbeing across universities, identifying challenges and proposing solutions through a multisystem and multilevel approach.

On the afternoon of 13 May, the students took part in an event at Polo Porta Nuova where, together with Circle U. Ambassadors Agata, Anna and Susanna, they met with members of the local student community who were eager to learn more about the initiatives and opportunities offered by the European Alliance.

The Pisa meetings will conclude with the participation of CUSU representatives in the General Assembly, which will bring together rectors and representatives from all nine member universities of the Alliance.

Attending the Pisa meeting were: Nora Marie Hager and Monica Celine Jacobsen (University of Oslo), Sterenn Le Cor (Université Paris Cité), Clara Michel Plácido and Sarah Hornemann (Humboldt University of Berlin), Yassine Ciampi (UCLouvain), Florian Tschebul (University of Vienna), Sarah Marie Mogensen (University of Aarhus), and Gaia Magliani and Lorenzo Velardita (University of Pisa).
