What can we learn from failed drug development in the field of beta3-adrenoceptor agonists?".
Relatore sarà il Prof. Martin Christian Michel (Department of Pharmacology, University Medical Center, Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany).
At least nine β3-adrenoceptor agonists have entered clinical development for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Despite very promising data from animal models, all failed. However, some of these compounds were successfully repurposed for the treatment of the overactive bladder syndrome. The reasons for the failures and the lessons learned will be discussed, specifically how scientists developed new data to support a successful repurposing in a different indication.
