Schizophrenia and other Mental Disorders

After the launch of the FP7 program, under the call HEALTH.2013.2.2.1-2: Development of effective imaging tools for diagnosis, monitoring and management of mental disorders, 8 projects were funded by EU. Their respective contacts were circulated among the Coordinators to allow them to liaise and collaborate between consortia. There is now a consensus among all coordinators to meet in a dedicated workshop where they could share their results and discuss further common steps in their research. This workshop has received encouragement and support by EU DG for Research and Innovation (HEALTH) and by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), which has been also supporting projects in the same field. Most of the coordinators of these IMI funded projects have also accepted to participate at this workshop.

On the other hand, a dedicated workshop on schizophrenia and mental disorder deserves a broader scope and a broader audience to successfully tackle the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of mental disorders. Thus we have decided to include neurodegenerative diseases within the topics and a round table where the future strategy of this research could be discussed at length. Hence we have set-up a one day and half tentative program that covers also the "Human Brain Project" and a Panel Discussion on Future Initiatives.
