On the 21st January 2016, 36 students from Taylor University in Indiana, USA, visited The University of Pisa for a detailed tour. Our visitors consisted of a group of scholarship students who are extremely high achievers at their university in Indiana. Their study-abroad trip focused on “The history of education” and for this motive, the International Office were pleased to welcome them to our institution of excellence here in Pisa.

The tour presented the areas of excellence available at The University of Pisa, and gave the students a taste of life here in Pisa. The presentation displayed the variety of courses available to study in English and informed them about the summer schools that take place. The students were welcomed in Palazzo Matteucci, before being taken to the rectory where they could admire the 18th Century original copy of “Dialogo sopra i due massimi sistemi del mondo” by Galileo Galilei, which is preserved in the “Sala dei Mappamondi”.

The students were accompanied by Scott Moeschberget (Associate Dean of Honors Programme and Associate Professor of Psychology), Dannie Stanley (Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering) and two graduate assistants; Jennifer Moeschberger and Amy Peterson. Our visitors had visited Rome and Florence and wanted to visit a prestigious Italian University, selecting Pisa as their destination. They were especially interested in hearing about our Summer Schools, PhD and Masters programmes, and said they all felt incredibly “inspired” on their return to America.
