Giuseppe Iannaccone named 2015 IEEE Fellow

He is being recognized for contributions to modeling transport and noise processes in nanoelectronic devices

giuseppe iannacconePiscataway, New Jersey, USA, January 2015 - Giuseppe Iannaccone, Prof. Dr., from PISA, Italy has been named an IEEE Fellow. He is being recognized for contributions to modeling transport and noise processes in nanoelectronic devices. Understanding semiconductor device operation at the nanometer scale enables the continuous progress of the electronics sector that brings powerful computation and communication tools in every pocket.
The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth of one- percent of the total voting membership. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.
Dr Iannaccone's research has revealed new insights in the operation of nanoscale electron devices, both in terms of their fundamental transport and noise properties, and in terms of their impact on the evolution of the Semiconductor Industry. Results of his activity have been published in more than 160 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and more than 120 paper in proceedings of international conferences. He has coordinated a few European and National research projects with multiple partners, and a few advanced technology transfer projects
Dr. Iannaccone graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pisa in 1992 and received a Ph.D from the same university in 1996. He is now Professor of Electronics at the "Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione" of the University of Pisa and is also affiliated with the "Polo Universitario Sistemi Logistici" of the same University. "I really have to thank the love and patience of my family, and the encouragement and collaboration of my colleagues and students over the years," Iannaccone says.
The IEEE is the world's leading professional association for advancing technology for humanity. Through its 400,000 members in 160 countries, the IEEE is a leading authority on a wide variety of areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics.
Dedicated to the advancement of technology, the IEEE publishes 30 percent of the world's literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields, and has developed more than 900 active industry standards. The association also sponsors or co-sponsors nearly 400 international technical conferences each year.
