The agreement envisages strengthening the scientific collaboration, cooperation and interaction between the two institutions in different disciplines, through the mutual exchange of students and teachers, joint research activities, participation in research projects and technology transfer. In particular it targets IT infrastructures and ICT solutions, modeling and assessment of surface and underground water quality, the use of unconventional water resources, the development of social marketing techniques to promote water and energy conservation, the vulnerability of surface and underground water to pollution, the preservation of Mediterranean ecosystems, monitoring, forecasting and mitigation of the effects linked to climate change, and the economic and social impact of refugee flows.

"I thank Professor Nicola Perilli and Carlo Volpi" - Prof. Marcelloni says - "for the initial contacts with Professor Hanan Malkawi, vice-president of RSS and the engineer Tareq Hasan, vice president of Princess Sumaya University, and networking that led us today, after a few months of work, to sign this agreement that allows the University of Pisa to collaborate with one of the most prestigious research and technology transfer institutions in the Middle East. I thank Princess Sumaya for her great availability and vision of the horizons of scientific collaboration, and our ambassador, Giovanni Brauzzi, whose presence at the event gave visibility to the important Italian presence in the scientific field in Jordan. I am convinced that this is the beginning of a fruitful collaboration, which will allow us, in particular, to present joint project proposals, for example to the European Commission, projects that Professors Desideri and Perilli are already developing with their RSS colleagues".
