\r\nEducation:
\r\nStefano Veronesi got High School degree in 1980 and successively he received the \u201claurea\u201d degree in Physics from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 1987 with a work on laser spectroscopy of liquids in the Far InfraRed region.
\r\n
\r\nResearch activity:
\r\nSV continued his research activity with a fellowship at National Council (C.N.R.) where worked from 1988 to 1992. He was involved in two research line, in the field of calorimetry and in the field of Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR). Calorimetric studies have been performed on: confined water (droplets of 10 \u00c5 diameter), in the temperature range -50 100 \u00b0C; epoxy resins during the curing process; hydrogen loading in metals. In the field of Time Domain Reflectometry research work allowed the determination of the complex dielectric permittivity of a liquid or powdered sample in the range 20kHz10GHz. After this experience he got another fellowship at Physics department of Siena University where was involved in the study of the release, induced by light, (LIAD effect) of alkali atoms from an organic coating which has been previously loaded. LIAD effect has been successfully utilised to load a Rb MOT. The coatings utilized are suitable to work in ultra high vacuum environment and was successfully utilised by T.W. Hansch and co-workers to load a Rb BEC. In 2001 he won a non-permanent position at Researcher of National Institute for the Physics of Matter (INFM) and work in a project with the aim of realize a Francium MOT and to perform high resolution spectroscopy of Fr, and had the ultimate goal to measure Atomic Parity Non Conservation (APNC). Several evidence of trapped Fr was obtained. From 2008 he has a permanent position NEST Istituto Nanoscienze \u2013 CNR. He was engaged in research in the field of material science, such as growth of single crystals for solid state application and STM studies on 2D materials. At present is involved in a research on Hydrogen storage in metal-functionalized graphene. The main goal of this activity was measuring the heat released during the hydrogen loading of a sample. This result has been recently achieved thanks to a sophisticated thermometric technique projected and developed by S. V.
