Such an activity, strongly focused on the aspects connected with the study and exploitation of electrical, mechanical and electromechanical properties, is widely documented by several publications among scientific journals papers, contributions to books and conferences, and also by internal reports and by several degree theses and Ph.D. dissertations supervised by him. Some research topics that he has explored are: electroactive polymers (EAP) for \u201cmuscle-like\u201d electromechanical actuators, mechanoelectrical soft transducer materials for \u201cskin-like\u201d sensors, textile electrodes for bio-potentials detection in biomedical and biomimetic applications, soft elastomeric composites and foams, microwave treatments of rubber compounds for tyre recycling. <br \/>\r\n<br \/>\r\nCURRENT RESEARCH FIELDS<br \/>\r\n    Most recent research activities involve studies on: functional fibrous and\/or nanostructured antimicrobial coatings; model systems able to reproduce the geometry of the pulmonary alveolus and to mimick the sub millimetric structure of Blood-Gas Barrier (BGB); coatings and\/or devices with intrinsic properties (e.g. anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antibacterial, antioxidant, piezoelectric, antifouling) for biomedical applications;
