\r\nLorenzo Cupellini received his PhD in Chemistry and Material Science in 2016 from the University of Pisa, under the supervision of Professor Benedetta Mennucci. After a postdoctoral position at the University of Pisa, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine in Barcelona, in Prof. Modesto Orozco\u2019s group. He is currently associate professor at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of the University of Pisa.

\r\nHis main scientific interests include:
\r\n\u2022 Simulations of complex processes occurring in biomolecular systems, including nonequilibrium and light-induced processes. Notable examples include the biological photoreceptors involved in sensing the quality\/intensity of sunlight.
\r\n\u2022 First-principles description of electronic properties in supramolecular (bio)systems, focusing on the prediction of absorption and circular dichroism spectra
\r\n\u2022 Development of novel multiscale methods to efficiently describe properties of molecules in complex environments.
\r\n\u2022 Development of novel machine learning methods for molecules in complex environments.
\r\n\u2022 Development of novel machine learning multiscale methods to describe ground and excited-state dynamics of molecules in environment.
\r\n\u2022 Development of methods to simulate excitation energy transfer dynamics, charge-transfer, and quenching in supramolecular (bio)systems.
\r\n\u2022 Investigation of complex conformational changes occurring in biopolymers and protein complexes through enhanced sampling molecular dynamics techniques.
\r\n
\r\nHe has authored or co-authored more than 90 scientific papers.
