{"id":482655,"date":"2026-04-20T12:40:53","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T10:40:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/?page_id=482655"},"modified":"2026-04-20T12:42:05","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T10:42:05","slug":"phd-transfers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/education\/courses\/phd-programmes\/information-for-phd-and-phd-students\/phd-transfers\/","title":{"rendered":"PhD Transfers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Transfer <em>to<\/em> the University of Pisa &#8211; Incoming<\/h2>\n<p>Students already enrolled in a <strong>PhD programme at another Italian or foreign university<\/strong> may apply to transfer to a PhD programme at the <strong>University of Pisa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Incoming transfers <strong>do not guarantee a scholarship funded by the University of Pisa<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Applicants must submit a request for a <em>nulla osta<\/em> to the PhD Admissions and Careers Unit<strong> through the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportellovirtuale.unipi.it\/\">Virtual Student Desk<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The request must include a <strong>detailed self\u2011certification of academic activities completed<\/strong> at the previous institution<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Conditions for approval<\/h3>\n<p>The University of Pisa may issue the <em>nulla osta<\/em> if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>there are available places in the PhD programme<\/li>\n<li>the <strong>PhD Programme Board<\/strong> recognises the academic activities already completed and confirms that the candidate can successfully complete the PhD programme at Unipi<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Next steps after approval<\/h3>\n<p>If the <em>nulla osta<\/em> is issued:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The candidate must obtain a <strong>clearance document<\/strong> from the current university<\/li>\n<li>Once the clearance document is obtained, the candidate can complete enrolment at the University of Pisa according to the instructions and deadline communicated by the PhD office<\/li>\n<li>Upon enrolment, the candidate must pay the <strong>Regional tax of \u20ac140<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Transfer <em>from<\/em> the University of Pisa &#8211; Outgoing<\/h2>\n<p>PhD candidates who wish to transfer from the University of Pisa<strong> to another university<\/strong> must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>submit their transfer request to the PhD Admissions and Careers Unit of the University of Pisa <strong>through the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportellovirtuale.unipi.it\/\">Virtual Student Desk<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>declare that they have obtained the <em>nulla osta<\/em><strong> from the destination university<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>return any University access card (if applicable)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Outgoing transfers for scholarship holders are subject to the <strong>rules and procedures of the destination university<\/strong> and <strong>do not guarantee continuation of the scholarship<\/strong> previously awarded at the University of Pisa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Transfer to the University of Pisa &#8211; Incoming Students already enrolled in a PhD programme at another Italian or foreign university may apply to transfer to a PhD programme at the University of Pisa.
