Battisti), phone 050 5205494,\u00a0<strong>open without appointment<\/strong>\u00a0(Mon-Fri 09:00 a.m.\u201312:00 p.m. \/ 02:00 p.m.\u201305:00 p.m.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Documents for the residence permit application<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Passport<\/li>\n<li>Copy of the\u00a0<strong>passport pages<\/strong> containing personal data, the <strong>visa<\/strong> and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Timbro-dingresso.jpg\"><strong>entry date stamp and the name of the Italian airport<\/strong><\/a> upon entering Italy OR expiring residence permit, if already in Italy<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>application form<\/strong> (form 209 module 1 and module 2 in the yellow kit) duly filled<\/li>\n<li><b>research nulla osta<\/b>\u00a0issued by the Prefettura<\/li>\n<li>the <a href=\"https:\/\/loginmiur.cineca.it\/elencoistituti\/convenzionediaccoglienza.pdf\">Convenzione d\u2019accoglienza<\/a> (Hosting Agreement) signed with your Department Director<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/about-us\/international-relations\/welcome-services\/entry-and-stay-information-for-non-eu-citizens\/healthcare\/\">private or public health insurance<\/a> paid by the hosting Department or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salute.gov.it\/new\/en\/tema\/european-health-insurance-card-ehic-0\/\">italian healh card<\/a>\u00a0 (tessera sanitaria)<\/li>\n<li>research contract (assegno\/borsa di ricerca or else)<\/li>\n<li>the <strong>rental contract<\/strong> and its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/registration-at-the-Tax-Office-Agenzia-Entrate-rotated.jpg\">registration at the Tax Office<\/a> (Agenzia delle Entrate)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Italian mobile phone<\/strong> number (if you have) where you can receive messages from the Police regarding your residence permit application.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Copies of the above documents and the hard copy of the application Form (mod 209 module 1 and module 2) <strong>must be included<\/strong> in the application at the Post Office. You will pay euro 30.00 for sending the application, and euro 70.46 for the issue of a residence permit up to a year <strong>OR euro 80.46<\/strong> if you have a two years research contract and request a two years residence permit (please clarify the issue with the Patronato, before going to the post office).<\/p>\n<p>Once the application has sent by post, the Post Office issue two receipts that <strong>ensure the legality of\u00a0 your stay<\/strong> in Italy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>one with the <strong>Questura<\/strong> (Police) appointment for fingerprinting and document review<\/li>\n<li>the other where personal usernames and passwords are provided.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the Police appointment, you must bring all above documents and <b>2 recent\u00a0<\/b>(passport size)<b>\u00a0photographs\u00a0<i>on a white background<\/i><\/b><i>.\u00a0<\/i>The Police will take the fingerprinting of each of your fingers and the palm of your hands.<\/p>\n<p>Please note: the <strong>residence permit&#8217;s expiration date<\/strong> is based on the term indicated in the Host Agreement (Convenzione d&#8217;accoglienza). Therefore, if there is a significant discrepancy with the date of commencement of employment, the Prefecture must be informed upon your arrival in Italy and the Host Agreement must be amended if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>After sending your residence permit application to the post office, if you wish to <strong>move up the fingerprints appointment<\/strong> with the Police at Saint Anna Immigration Desk, send an email to: permessodisoggiorno@unipi.it. Please notice that Saint Anna Desk can just help you in providing fingerprints in advance. Once taken the fingerprints at Saint Anna, if all documents are fine, the Police will release the residence permit in about 60 days.<\/p>\n<p>By logging in to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.portaleimmigrazione.it\/ELI2ImmigrazioneWEB\/Pagine\/StartPage.aspx\">\u00a0Immigration Portal<\/a>, with the password and user ID (nome utente) found on your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/Post-office-receipt-password-and-user-id.pdf\">postal receipt<\/a>\u00a0(do not include the hyphen), you can view the status of your application for a residence permit and any missing documents. Please notice that the Immigration Portal is updated very late.<\/p>\n<h2>Renewal of the residence permit<\/h2>\n<p>You can apply for the renewal of the research residence permit if your research Contract has been extended or you have a new research contract (borsa or assegno di ricerca).<\/p>\n<p>In case of <strong>extension of the research contract<\/strong>, you must have:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>the extended Convenzione d&#8217;accoglienza, signed with your Department Head;<\/li>\n<li>the extended nulla osta issued by the Prefettura<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In case of a <strong>new research contract<\/strong>, you must have:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>the new Convenzione d&#8217;accoglienza;<\/li>\n<li>the new nulla osta issued by the Prefettura<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once you have the above, you can contact again a Patronato and fill the renewal request enclosing also the below documents:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Copy of the\u00a0<strong>passport pages<\/strong> containing personal data<\/li>\n<li>copy of the expiring residence permit<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>application form<\/strong> (form 209 module 1 and module 2 found in the yellow kit) duly filled<\/li>\n<li><b>Health insurance<\/b> coverage paid by the hosting Department in Pisa or the italian health card (tessera sanitaria). For the renewal of the permit and its expiration, the Police consider also\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>duration of the health coverage<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>research contract with our University ( the new assegno\/borsa di ricerca or the extension)<\/li>\n<li>the <strong>rental contract<\/strong>\u00a0and its <strong>registration<\/strong> at the Tax Office (Agenzia delle Entrate)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Italian mobile phone<\/strong> number<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Copies of the above documents and the hard copy of the application Form (mod 209 module 1 and module 2) must be included in the residence permit application at the Post Office.<\/p>\n<p>At the appointment with the Questura Officers, you will have to bring all documents above indicated and\u00a0<b>2 recent\u00a0<\/b>(passport size)<b>\u00a0photographs\u00a0<i>on a white background<\/i><\/b><i>.\u00a0<\/i>The Police Officer will ask for your electronic signature on a special tablet and will take the fingerprinting of only your index fingers (both hands).<\/p>\n<p>After sending your residence permit application to the post office, if you wish to <strong>move up the fingerprints appointment<\/strong> with the Police at Saint Anna Immigration Desk, send an email to: permessodisoggiorno@unipi.it. Please notice that Saint Anna Desk can just help you in providing fingerprints in advance.
