Visa are issued by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/ministero\/struttura\/laretediplomatica\/\">Italian Embassies and Consulates<\/a> in the country of residence of the foreign citizen.\u00a0Citizens of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-opportunita\/ingressosoggiornoinitalia\/visto_ingresso\/paesi_esenti_visto\/\">some countries do not require a visa<\/a> for touristic stays, family visits, short courses, lasting no more than 90 days in the Schengen area countries, including Italy.<\/p>\n<p>For <strong>stays longer than 90 days, <\/strong>you must always have<strong> an Italian national type D visa<\/strong> and apply for a <strong>residence permit within eight working days after arriving<\/strong> in Italy. Visas\/residence permits issued by other EU Countries or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-opportunita\/ingressosoggiornoinitalia\/visto_ingresso\/tipologie_visto_durata\/\">Uniform Schengen visas<\/a> are <strong>not fine<\/strong> for enrolling to a Bachelor\/Master degree or a PhD Programme or a Master.<\/p>\n<p>Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland citizens do not need a visa and follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/about-us\/international-relations\/welcome-services\/entry-and-residence-of-eu-citizens\/\">EU citizens rules.<\/a><\/p>\n\t\t\n\t\t<div class=\"b53 accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"b53 accordion-header\" id=\"accordion-0-t1\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"b53 accordion-button collapsed  text-wrap\"\n\t\t\t\t\ttype=\"button\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-bs-toggle=\"collapse\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-bs-target=\"#accordion-0-c1\"\n\t\t\t\t\taria-expanded=\"false\"\n\t\t\t\t\taria-controls=\"accordion-0-t1\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"b53-accordion-text\">Study visa and Universitaly portal<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<div id=\"accordion-0-c1\" class=\"b53 accordion-collapse collapse\"\n\t\t\t\taria-labelledby=\"accordion-0-t1\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-bs-parent=\"#accordion-0\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"b53 accordion-body\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>The <strong>study\/University enrollment<\/strong> visa (visto di studio\/Immatricolazione Universit\u00e0) and the <strong>study\/POSTGRADUATE<\/strong> (visto post-laurea) allow entry into Italy for enrolling to Bachelor&#8217;s Degree courses, Master\u2019s Degree courses, Single-Cycle Master\u2019s Degree courses and Doctoral Programmes. Study\/exchange program visas or study\/language course visas do not allow enrollment in undergraduate and graduate degree programs.<\/p>\n<p>NON-EU citizens wishing to apply for a study\/University enrollment visa must submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/education\/registration\/enrolment-and-registration\/enrolment-for-international-students\/pre-registration-on-universitaly\/\">pre-enrolment application on Universitaly<\/a> before applying for the study visa. The pre-enrollment on Universitaly is compulsory for the following Courses and Programmes: Bachelor&#8217;s Degree courses, Master\u2019s Degree courses, Single-Cycle Master\u2019s Degree courses, First- and Second-Level Postgraduate Degree courses, Foundation courses, PhD courses, Specialisation courses, Advanced courses, Italian Language and Culture courses, Single Courses (about mobility programmes, Erasmus or exchange, please see the Paragraph below).<\/p>\n<p>Applicants for university courses requiring prior admission by the competent Board of the degree course <strong>must also upload the admission letter issued by the relevant course on the Universitaly portal.<\/strong> For information on the documentation required for pre-registration in a PhD or Postgraduate degree please contact the PhD or Postgraduate Degree Office.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that enrolment in the degree programme indicated in the Universitaly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/education\/registration\/enrolment-and-registration\/enrolment-for-international-students\/pre-registration-on-universitaly\/\">pre-enrolment<\/a> is only possible if the applicant holds a study visa issued for the corresponding academic year of the pre-enrolment and enrolment process.<\/p>\n<p>Terms for issuing study visas: usually <strong>3 months<\/strong> as clarified at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-opportunita\/ingressosoggiornoinitalia\/visto_ingresso\/termini_rilascio_visti\/\">Italian Foreign Ministry page<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The pre-enrolment on Universitaly is not requested for Summer\/Winter Schools: for such short stay programmes is fine a short stay visa (Uniform Shengen visa, if requested).<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t<div class=\"b53 accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"b53 accordion-header\" id=\"accordion-0-t2\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"b53 accordion-button collapsed  text-wrap\"\n\t\t\t\t\ttype=\"button\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-bs-toggle=\"collapse\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-bs-target=\"#accordion-0-c2\"\n\t\t\t\t\taria-expanded=\"false\"\n\t\t\t\t\taria-controls=\"accordion-0-t2\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"b53-accordion-text\">How to proceed on Universitaly portal<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<div id=\"accordion-0-c2\" class=\"b53 accordion-collapse collapse\"\n\t\t\t\taria-labelledby=\"accordion-0-t2\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-bs-parent=\"#accordion-0\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"b53 accordion-body\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Once registered\u00a0 on the Universitaly portal, select the University of Pisa, the course of study, the language of the course, the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence where you will apply for the visa (in the pre-registration application, do not indicate the tax code and the ID of the chosen university).<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/education\/registration\/enrolment-and-registration\/enrolment-for-international-students\/pre-registration-on-universitaly\/\"><strong>pre-enrolment<\/strong><\/a> will be evaluated by the University of Pisa and, following its validation, forwarded to the relevant Italian Embassy\/Consulate.<\/p>\n<p>Once the application is validated, the student will receive a notification from the Universitaly Portal and will find the <strong>Summary<\/strong> in pdf format on its own Universitaly page, at the bottom of it. Only then you can submit the visa application to the competent Embassy by attaching the aforementioned Summary.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"347\">Upon arrival in Italy, you must complete enrolment at the University indicated in your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/education\/registration\/enrolment-and-registration\/enrolment-for-international-students\/pre-registration-on-universitaly\/\">pre-enrolment<\/a> submitted via Universitaly. It is not possible to enrol at a different University than the one linked to your pre-enrolment, nor is it permitted to enrol in a degree programme different from the one indicated in your Universitaly pre-enrolment.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"349\" data-end=\"665\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">If you do not enroll at the university and in the degree programme specified in the pre-enrolment, the University will inform the competent authorities (Embassy and Police Headquarters \u2013 Questura), which may proceed with the possible revocation of the visa and the non-issuance of the residence permit.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t<div class=\"b53 accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"b53 accordion-header\" id=\"accordion-0-t3\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"b53 accordion-button collapsed  text-wrap\"\n\t\t\t\t\ttype=\"button\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-bs-toggle=\"collapse\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-bs-target=\"#accordion-0-c3\"\n\t\t\t\t\taria-expanded=\"false\"\n\t\t\t\t\taria-controls=\"accordion-0-t3\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"b53-accordion-text\">Documents requested for the issue of the study\/University enrollment visa <\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<div id=\"accordion-0-c3\" class=\"b53 accordion-collapse collapse\"\n\t\t\t\taria-labelledby=\"accordion-0-t3\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-bs-parent=\"#accordion-0\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"b53 accordion-body\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universitaly.it\/studenti-stranieri\">Procedures for entry, residence and enrollment of international students, and the respective recognition of qualifications for Higher Education Courses in Italy,<\/a>\u00a0to apply for a study visa (type D \u201cnational\u201d) for enrolling to a University Programme, it is mandatory to submit the final qualification to the Italian Embassy\/Consulate together with <strong>one<\/strong> of the following documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the Statement of Comparability and the Statement of Verification issued by the Italian ENIC-NARIC Centre (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cimea.it\/\">Cimea<\/a>);<\/li>\n<li>OR the Declaration of Value (DoV), provided that it explicitly states that the authenticity of the qualification has been verified.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Declaration of Value or the Statement of Comparability issued by the Italian ENIC-NARIC centre (CIMEA) will also be required at the time of enrolment at the University.<\/p>\n<p>The documents to be submitted to obtain a study\/University enrollment visa also includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>entry visa application <a href=\"https:\/\/vistoperitalia.esteri.it\/files\/public\/moduli\/it\/Formulario_Visto_Nazionale.pdf\">form<\/a> (in the form, always select multiply entries)<\/li>\n<li>recent passport-size photograph<b>\u00a0<\/b><i>on a white background.<\/i><\/li>\n<li>valid passport with an expiry date that is at least three months after that of the required visa<\/li>\n<li>availability of appropriate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/about-us\/international-relations\/welcome-services\/accommodation-for-students-and-international-guests\/\">accommodation<\/a> in Italy<\/li>\n<li>pre-registration for the course to be attended in Italy (Summary on the Universitaly Portal)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/about-us\/international-relations\/welcome-services\/entry-and-stay-information-for-non-eu-citizens\/healthcare\/\">health insurance<\/a>, if the foreign national is not entitled to healthcare in Italy under agreements in force with their country<\/li>\n<li>proof of the availability of means of subsistence in Italy, amounting to <strong>EUR 10,179.85 annually<\/strong>. Such availability can be demonstrated by:\n<ul>\n<li>proof of personal or family financial resources<\/li>\n<li>economic security ensured by Italian institutions and organisations with proven creditworthiness, by local Governments, or by foreign institutions and organisations recognised as reliable by the Italian diplomatic mission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Before your departure, we suggest you open an online bank account provided with a debit card\/pre-paid card and IBAN\/SWIFT codes because Italian banks are not so favorable in opening accounts to non-UE students. Pisa University International Office cannot support you in opening a bank account in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>For all the details on visa issuance: <a href=\"https:\/\/vistoperitalia.esteri.it\/?lang=en_US\">https:\/\/vistoperitalia.esteri.it\/?lang=en_US<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Further useful info: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/ministero\/sportello_info\/domandefrequenti\">https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/ministero\/sportello_info\/domandefrequenti<\/a>\/<\/p>\n<p>At the arrival in Italy, you must apply for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/about-us\/international-relations\/welcome-services\/entry-and-stay-information-for-non-eu-citizens\/study-residence-permit\/\">Residence permit<\/a> <strong>within 8 working<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>days<\/strong>\u00a0of entering Italy.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t<\/p>\n<h2>Incoming Non-EU Erasmus\/Exchange students<\/h2>\n\t\t\n\t\t<div class=\"b53 accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"b53 accordion-header\" id=\"accordion-0-t4\">\n\t\t\t\t<button class=\"b53 accordion-button collapsed  text-wrap\"\n\t\t\t\t\ttype=\"button\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-bs-toggle=\"collapse\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-bs-target=\"#accordion-0-c4\"\n\t\t\t\t\taria-expanded=\"false\"\n\t\t\t\t\taria-controls=\"accordion-0-t4\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"b53-accordion-text\">Already in European or Schengen Country<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<div id=\"accordion-0-c4\" class=\"b53 accordion-collapse collapse\"\n\t\t\t\taria-labelledby=\"accordion-0-t4\"\n\t\t\t\tdata-bs-parent=\"#accordion-0\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"b53 accordion-body\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>According to EU\u00a0<span class=\"markgoothhwio\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Directive<\/span> 2016\/801, you can enter Italy without an Italian visa, for a stay longer than 90 days and up to 360 days, as long as the following applies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>you are currently participating in a European exchange programme (Erasmus or else);<\/li>\n<li>have the documentation stating the programme you will do is in addition to the study programme you have done in the EU Country;<\/li>\n<li>your <strong>study residency permit<\/strong>, issued by the EU or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/policies\/schengen-area\/#members\">Schengen country<\/a> is valid for the duration of your stay in Italy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once arrived, <strong>within the first 8 working days<\/strong>, you must go to the Questura (Police) in via San Francesco 8 &#8211; between 12pm (noon) and 1pm &#8211; and fill in the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.poliziadistato.it\/statics\/39\/modulo_dichiarazione_presenz_cittadini_ue.pdf\"><strong>dichiarazione di presenza<\/strong><\/a>\u201d (declaration of presence).\u00a0\u00a0To fill it<i>,<\/i> you must have the entry date stamp on your passport when you enter Italy OR the <strong>travel ticket<\/strong> of your arrival in Italy.<br \/>\nIf missing the entry stamp\/travel ticket, you will have to apply for the residence permit.
