{"id":273590,"date":"2025-02-14T10:16:39","date_gmt":"2025-02-14T10:16:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/education\/student-offices\/career-management\/interruption-and-withdrawal\/interruzione-temporanea\/"},"modified":"2025-11-04T14:04:28","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T13:04:28","slug":"temporary-interruption-and-suspension","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/education\/student-offices\/career-management\/interruption-and-withdrawal\/temporary-interruption-and-suspension\/","title":{"rendered":"Temporary interruption and suspension"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students enrolled at the University of Pisa may request a temporary interruption or a temporary suspension of their academic career.<\/p>\n<h2 aria-level=\"1\">Temporary interruption<\/h2>\n<p>You may request a temporary interruption of your studies for one academic year in the following cases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>participation in voluntary civil service or voluntary military service (VFP1 \u2013 one-year fixed term)<\/li>\n<li>maternity, paternity or parental leave<\/li>\n<li>serious personal or family reasons that adversely affect your studies, possibly supported by specialist medical documentation<\/li>\n<li>enrolment in courses leading to qualifications or certificates for teacher training<\/li>\n<li>enrolment in and attendance of courses for non-commissioned officers of the Guardia di Finanza or Carabinieri, until completion of those courses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to apply<\/h3>\n<p>To request a temporary interruption, send to the University of Pisa \u2013 Student Office, Largo Bruno Pontecorvo 3, Pisa, or to one of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/en\/education\/student-offices\/locations-and-contacts\/info-points-in-other-cities\/\"> local student offices<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the completed request form (downloadable in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/modulo_interruzione_temporanea_2025.rtf\">.rtf<\/a> or<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unipi.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/modulo_interruzione_temporanea_2025.pdf\"> .pdf<\/a> format)<\/li>\n<li>a EUR 16.00 revenue stamp<\/li>\n<li>supporting documentation (in the case of medical reasons, a specialist medical certificate is required)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For urgent matters or further information, contact <a href=\"mailto:gabriella.gheri@unipi.it\">gabriella.gheri@unipi.it<\/a> using only your institutional @studenti.unipi.it e-mail address and always include your student ID number.<\/p>\n<h3>Deadlines for submitting the request<\/h3>\n<p>The request must be submitted from 24 July 2025.<\/p>\n<p>It is not possible to request interruption retroactively.<\/p>\n<p>An interruption cannot be requested if exams have been taken or credits have been recognised during the academic year for which suspension is requested.<\/p>\n<p>It is not possible to request temporary interruption for the same reason as in previous academic years, unless different circumstances apply.<\/p>\n<p>Students enrolled simultaneously in two degree courses must request interruption for both courses, not just one.<\/p>\n<h3>What to do after the interruption period<\/h3>\n<p>After the interruption, students may renew enrolment and apply for a tuition fee reduction within 30 days from the end of the interruption period, without paying any late fee.<br \/>\nAfter this deadline, a late payment fee applies: EUR 50 for the first month of delay, EUR 100 for the second month, and EUR 150 after the second month.<\/p>\n<h2 aria-level=\"2\">Temporary suspension<\/h2>\n<p>If you have taken exams and\/or obtained credit recognition during the academic year 2024\/2025, you cannot request temporary interruption. However, you may apply for a <strong>temporary suspension of your academic career for 180 days<\/strong>.
