In accordance with Law 183\/2011, certificates issued by the University of Pisa cannot be submitted to public administrations or to private entities providing public services, except for the certificates issued for the Police (Questura) for the issuance\/renewal of a residence permit<\/a>.
\nThis law establishes that \u201ccertificates issued by public administrations concerning personal status, qualifications and facts are valid and may be used only in relations between private entities. In relations with public administrations and providers of public services, certificates and statutory declarations must always be replaced by the self-certifications referred to in Articles 46 and 47 of Presidential Decree 445\/2000.\u201d<\/p>\n

Failure by public administrations or providers of public services to accept self-certifications constitutes a breach of official duties.<\/p>\n

Therefore, whenever it is necessary to attest acts or facts relating to one\u2019s academic record for submission to a public administration or to a private provider of public services, students must submit a self-certification, which fully replaces the certificate for all legal purposes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Certificates remain valid and may be used in dealings with private entities in Italy. Handwritten signatures are omitted pursuant to Article 3(2) of Legislative Decree no. 39 of 12 February 1993.<\/p>\n

Certificates for use abroad, issued in Italian and English, must be printed by the Student Office and bear the original signature of authorised officials whose signatures are deposited with the Prefecture.<\/p>\n

Certificates requested for purposes provided for under current legislation (Presidential Decree 26\/10\/1972 no. 642, Annex B \u2013 Table<\/a> and subsequent provisions) are exempt from stamp duty. All other certificates are subject to stamp duty.<\/p>\n
