Thirteen research projects from the University of Pisa have been funded in the third edition of the Italian Science Fund (FIS3), for a total of more than EUR 16.8 million. The projects involve ten departments<\/strong> and include seven Starting Grants, two Consolidator Grants and four Advanced Grants<\/strong>, supporting innovative ideas developed both by young researchers and by established scholars.<\/p>\n

The Italian Science Fund of the Ministry of Universities and Research has allocated a total of EUR 475 million this year to support basic research across major scientific fields, including life sciences, engineering, medical sciences, and the humanities and social sciences.<\/p>\n

For the University of Pisa, three projects <\/strong>have been awarded to the Department of Mathematics<\/strong>: Andrea Tamburelli<\/strong>, Topology and Geometry of Higher-Order Teichm\u00fcller Spaces<\/em>; Dario Trevisan<\/strong>, Optimal Transport and Large Deviations for Deep Learning Theory<\/em>; Giulio Bresciani<\/strong>, Rational Points via Fundamental Groups<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Two projects<\/strong> were awarded to the Department of Physics<\/strong>: Manipulating Quantum Spin Liquids: A Unique Route to New Phases of Matter<\/em> by Alessandro Principi<\/strong>; Bootstrap Applied to Quantum Field Theories<\/em> by Alessandro Vichi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Two projects<\/strong> also went to the Department of Civilisations and Forms of Knowledge<\/strong>: Medicine as a Social Practice: An Archaeology of Health and Illness in Ancient Egypt<\/em> by Gianluca Miniaci<\/strong>; Lives on the Move: Belonging and Otherness. Women, Minors and Statelessness in the Context of Radicalisation<\/em> by Renata Pepicelli<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
