The degree course in Cultural Heritage Sciences is divided into three curricula: History and Art, Archaeology, Egypt and Ancient Near and Middle East. The students acquire a solid background and broad knowledge of the various fields of cultural heritage and their legislation. The course of study allows students to develop mastery of the main IT and telecommunication tools within their areas of expertise, acquire tools for communication and information management, and practice at least two languages of the European Union. Academic disciplines of the three curricula cover the basics of:  
  • Medieval, Modern and Contemporary Art History
  • Archaeology of Mediterranean Civilisations, from Prehistory to the Contemporary Age
  • Egypt and Ancient Near and Middle East.
Courses, workshops, seminars and traineeships, also with external partner companies and institutions, are foreseen.The course promotes internationalisation and the Erasmus programme, with study or traineeship stays abroad in one of the more than one hundred European partner institutions. The Bachelor’s degree gives access to Master’s degree courses in Art History, Archaeology or Oriental Studies: Egypt, Near and Middle East.

Per l'ammissione al Corso di Laurea in Scienze dei Beni culturali è è richiesto un Diploma di Scuola media superiore di durata quinquennale o altro titolo di studio equipollente conseguito all'estero. In ogni caso, chiunque si iscriva dovrà possedere: 1) la capacità di esprimersi correttamente in italiano scritto e orale; 2) una buona formazione culturale di base. Il possesso di entrambi questi requisiti sarà verificato con criteri e forme che verranno precisati dal Regolamento didattico del corso di studio, al quale si rimanda anche per le modalità di attribuzione e soddisfacimento degli obblighi formativi aggiuntivi assegnati in caso tale verifica dia esito negativo.

Per l'ammissione al Corso sono richieste le conoscenze di base che di norma si acquisiscono con un Diploma di Scuola media superiore di indirizzo umanistico. In ogni caso, chiunque si iscriva dovrà possedere: - la capacità di esprimersi perfettamente in italiano scritto e orale; - una buona formazione culturale di base. Qualora il diploma di Scuola media superiore sia stato conseguito all'estero, deve esserne riconosciuta l'equipollenza.

Gli studenti che intendono iscriversi al corso devono superare il test d'ingresso per i corsi di laurea triennali organizzato dal Dipartimento di Civiltà e forme del sapere dell'Università di Pisa (Test di valutazione/TOLC-SU: https://www.cfs.unipi.it/studenti/test-di-accesso/). Il TOLC-SU è obbligatorio. Esso consiste in 50 quesiti suddivisi in 3 sezioni (Comprensione, del testo e conoscenza della lingua italiana; Conoscenze e competenze acquisite negli studi; Ragionamento logico-critico non formalizzato). Ogni domanda corretta equivale a 1 punto. La prova è da considerarsi superata se: a) il punteggio totale è uguale/superiore a 23.5 oppure b) il punteggio relativo alla sezione 'Comprensione del testo e conoscenza della lingua italiana' è uguale/superiore a 12.5. Nel caso di mancato superamento del TOLC-SU gli studenti dovranno frequentare il Corso di recupero OFA erogato dal Dipartimento, dimostrando di aver colmato le lacune secondo le modalità di accertamento stabilite, pena l'impossibilità di procedere con gli esami del secondo e terzo anno.       Career opportunities

      Graduates acquire professional skills that enable them to collaborate with institutions and companies of the sector in archaeological excavation activities, communication, and the dissemination of the cultural heritage.

      Enrolment

      The Degree Program in Cultural Heritage Studies has an open access. Find more detailsat Study programmes.

      In order to attend the course, students must take a non-selective evaluation test to verify the initial preparation level.

      How to enrol

      You can register from 24 July to 30 September 2025. After this period, a late payment fee will be applied.


      Enter your personal data on Alice portal.

      You will need to access using your SPID or Tax code.

      After registering, you'll need to choose a course. You can find the video tutorial at this LINK.

      You can choose:

      • Standard enrolment;
      • Degree program shortening (in the event of a university degree already obtained);
      • Relocation from another University.

      The procedure will request:

      • ID scanned copy
      • passport-sized photo (please check size)
      • High school diploma details (Secondary School Name, year, final mark).

      Students with a foreign qualification are required to upload:

      • Declaration of Value (DV) issued by the Italian Diplomatic Authorities in their home country, along with the official translation into Italian of the diploma, legalised (or with an "apostille") and validated, OR, the ENIC-NARIC certificate is accepted in Italian Language. These documents should attest at least 12 years of schooling and the relevant qualification should allow the access to higher education.

      For Degree Program shortening the obtained University degree will be required. For relocation from another University previous university career will be required from the other university.

      At the end of procedure please print and sign the FORIM to complete enrolment and upload it on the Alice portal in the Career section annexes.

      Students with special needs

      Students with handicap under art. 3 Italian Law no. 104/1992 or with a certified disability equal or above 66% are required to upload a medical certificate attesting their health condition for university tuition fees exemption (duty stamp is required anyway).

      Some special categories under art. 1.1.2 lett. d) e) and art.1.1.3 lett. c) of the Regulations on Tuition fees (such as Italian government scholarship holders, competition winners, detained subjects ) shall email to matricolandosi@unipi.it for a specific calculation of tuition fees.


      If you do not apply for a DSU scholarship
      If you do not apply for a DSU scholarship, which will be automatically recorded after you have selected your degree course (“Scelta del corso”), you must pay the first instalment of tuition fees.

      From 1 October, a late payment fee applies as follows:

      • EUR 50 from 1 October 2025 to 31 October 2025
      • EUR 100 from 1 November 2025 to 1 December 2025
      • EUR 150 from 2 December 2025 (up to 31 December 2025 for newly enrolled students)

      International students holding a foreign qualification and visa applicants may pay the first instalment and submit the required documentation by 31 December 2025 without incurring late fees.

      If you apply for a DSU scholarship
      If you apply for a DSU scholarship, your application will be automatically recorded and your enrolment will be confirmed as soon as you have selected your degree course. In this case, payment of the first instalment is deferred to the deadline for the second instalment. Students awarded a scholarship will not be required to pay any tuition fees; they will only need to pay the EUR 16 virtual stamp duty.


      Within three working days of payment (or of degree course selection if you have applied for a scholarship), the Student Office will check and validate the documents and photo submitted during the enrolment procedure. If the documentation provided is complete and correct, you will receive a welcome email confirming your enrolment. Otherwise, you will be contacted directly by email or phone.

      Students holding a foreign qualification, regardless of nationality, must upload the required documents, which will be validated by the International Office (wis@unipi.it).


      For Degree Program shortening the previous university career will be recognized after submitting to the Students Office the “qualifications recognition” form with the annexed self certification of all exams. Deadline December 31, 2025.

      For relocation from another University the Students Office will confirm you the acceptance of the discharge papers from the university of origin. Transfer deadline is December 31, 2025.
