Professor Marco N. Carcassi has focused his research studies, in last thirty years, in Hydrogen Risk in Nuclear and Conventional plants. He has been visiting researcher for 12 months at the Sandia National Laboratory (Albuquerque, NM USA), and he was, in this field, scientific responsible of several national and international research projects.
Prof. Carcassi was coordinator of HYMI e VOASM projects (global value of 1.2 MEuro), within the IV Framework Programme of the European Community related to the Hydrogen Risk in the nuclear plants.
Within the VI Framework Programme prof. Carcassi was member of the NoE HYSAFE NoE where was leader of the Work Package Cluster Dissemination and the European program HYPER (HY Permitting Guide for Fuel Cells).
Member of scientific associations (Past President of the Forum Italiano dellIdrogeno, of the ESRA Editorial Board, of 3ASI), member of Italian Ministry of Interior Ad-Hoc Group (created by the Italian Fire Corps to draw up the fire prevention regulations for hydrogen and methane applications), member of the Italian thermotechnical Committee which is part of UNI which is the Italian body for standardisation as regards thermotechnics issues.
Member States Mirror Group of the European Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Platform (HFP)
Member of ISO/TC 197, WG11. and IEA Task 19 Hydrogen Safety. Prof Carcassi is Chairman of the Organizing and Scientific Committee of the series of congresses VGR (Risk Assessment and Management in the Civil and Industrial Settlements) and of the ICHS (International Conference of Hydrogen Safety) Series.
Member of the Board of the International Association on the Hydrogen Safety (IA-HYSAFE)
Prof. Carcassi is author of more than 150 publications in the fields of combustion and the risk of hydrogen as energy carrier.
