Prof. Luisa Pistelli, doctor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, a five years program at the Faculty of Pharmacy (University of Pisa), is Full Professor in Pharmaceutical Biology (SSD BIO/15) at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Pisa. From 1995 to 2002 she was lecturer in Plant Biology and Medicinal Plant Biotechnology at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Pisa. Since 2003 till 2014 she has been lecturer in Food of Plant Origin, Herbal Products and Medicinal Plant Biotechnology at the same University. From 2011 to now she is also teaching Plant Biology, Pharmaceutical Botany, and Medicinal Plant Biotechnology together with Medicinal Plants in Dietary Supplements.
She was President of the Herbal Technology Degree Course from 2001 to 2009, and the Coordinator of all Italian Herbal Technology degree courses (CO.N.P.T.ER.) from 2006-07 and 2008-09.
2008-2013 she has been Director of the Master Course in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: raw material for the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries (one year course following a 3 year degree), http://www.farm.unipi.it/masterpam/), Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Pisa.
Prof. Luisa Pistelli is a member of several important scientific national and international societies (SIF, SBI, PSE) and of the Accademia dei Georgofili (Florence, ITALY).
From 2019 to now she is President of the Italian Society of Phytochemistry and the Science of Medicinal, Food and Fragrant Plants (SIF, www.phytosif.it)
She has published more than 250 publications in international journals on Phytochemistry, Chemistry of Natural Compounds and Medicinal Plant Biotechnology. The complete list of her publications is shown on the UNIPI website http://www.unimap.unipi.it under the name of the author.
Research fields: extraction, isolation and structural elucidation of secondary metabolites from plants, with biological screening of their activity; quali-quantitative evaluation of secondary metabolites in plant extracts with agronomic and industrial interest and from tissue and cell cultures.
