The University of Pisa ranks third in Italy among mega state universities (those with over 40,000 students), following the Universities of Padua and Bologna. With an overall score of 84.7, the University of Pisa has advanced three positions compared to last year.
This is confirmed by the new Censis ranking of Italian universities 2025/26. From a methodological point of view, the evaluation of universities is based on the analysis of six categories of indicators: available facilities, services provided, scholarships and other student support measures, level of internationalisation, digital communication and services, and employability. In the category-specific rankings, the University of Pisa ranks first for both services provided and employability, the latter shared ex aequo with the University of Milan.
“As we have often said in the past, these rankings should not be overemphasised,” said Riccardo Zucchi, Rector of the University of Pisa. “However, there is no doubt that the progress made by our University represents a significant achievement and a well-earned acknowledgment of the collective efforts made by our academic community this year.”
