Dr. Palleschi is a world-renowned expert in the Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy technique (LIBS); he organized the first LIBS International Conference in Pisa, in year 2000, was the Chairman and organizer of the 9th EMSLIBS Conference in Pisa, in June 2017 and co-Chairman of the LIBS 2022 Conference in Bari (Italy). He is a member of the International Scientific Committees of the LIBS and EMSLIBS Conferences and member of the Scientific Committee of the Center for Archaeology of Mediterranean and Near East (CAMNES) in Florence. Besides LIBS, Dr. Palleschi has also experience in X-Ray Fluorescence analysis, micro-Raman spectroscopy, Multispectral Imaging, 3D photogrammetry and Chemometrics. He has published more than 280 papers in ISI journals, which received more than 10,000 citations, and the books ‘Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy: Principles and Applications’ (eds. A.Miziolek, I.Schechter and V.Palleschi, CUP 2006) and 'Chemometrics and Numerical Methods in LIBS' (ed. V. Palleschi, Wiley 2022). His h-index is 49 (Source: Scopus). His 1999 paper on Calibration-Free LIBS analysis is the most quoted research paper in the LIBS history. Dr. Palleschi is in the Editorial Board of the journals Spectrochimica Acta B (IF 2022: 3.662), Applied Spectroscopy (IF 2022: 2.388), Laser and Particle Beams (IF 2022: 1.16), Journal of Advanced Research (IF 2022: 10.479) and Reviews in Analytical Chemistry (IF 2022: 3.067). Dr. Palleschi has lead and participated in many national and international projects and managed many research contracts with small, medium and large enterprises. He has given invited lectures at the major conferences in spectroscopy and its applications in Europe, Asia, America and Africa. He was the coordinator of several national and international projects funded by governmental agencies and industry, who have brought, in the last 25 years, several millions of Euro to his organization. At present time, Dr. Palleschi is the Principal Investigator of the PRIN 2020 project UNDERLANDSCAPE for the study of underground structures in northern Tuscany. He teaches at the University of Pisa the Courses of Analytical Chemistry V (Department of Chemistry), Physics for Cultural Heritage (Department of Phyics), Solid State Physicochemical Methods (Department of Engineering) and Archaeometry (Department of Civilization and Forms of Knowledge). In 2012 he has obtained the qualification as Full Professor in Experimental Physics of the Matter.
