Marcello Carrozzino is Assistant Professor of Computer Graphics and Virtual Environments. His activities deal with the design, implementation and integration of Virtual Reality systems, with a particular focus on applications to Cultural Heritage. In 2000 he received a master degree at Univerity of Pisa in Computer Engineering. Since 2000 he has been collaborating with Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa, where he is currently heading the Art, Cultural and Education Group of PERCRO Lab. In 2006 he attained a Ph.D. at Scuola Sant'Anna with a thesis on Efficient Management of Complex Virtual Environments. Since 2006 he has been teaching the course of Virtual Environments held at the Computer Science department of the University of Pisa. From 2006 to 2009 he has been Assistant Professor at IMT Lucca in the area of Technology and Management of Cultural Heritage. Since 2010 he has been teaching the course of Networked Virtual Environments for the Master Degree program in Computer Science and Networking jointly offered by
Scuola Superiore SantAnna and University of Pisa. He has been involved in several EU projects, including VIRTUAL, PURE FORM, ENACTIVE, INTUITION, BEAMING, VERITAS, and has been coordinating several research projects at regional level.
He is a founder of VRMedia s.r.l, a spin-off company of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa, dealing with the development of Virtual and Augmented Reality solutions for industry. He is also a founder of the Mnemosyne Digital Culture association. He has authored and co-authored 70+ publications in international journals, conference proceedings and book chapters.
