josHas technology invaded our homes and offices with cables and battery chargers? The problem can be solved by JOS, the first "energy pad" with an original design, developed by a startup from the University of Pisa's PhD Plus course which aims to teach entrepreneurship encouraging talent, creativity and innovation.

JOS Technology Srls, incubated at the Cerfitt di Pont-Tech and a former winner of the Start Cup Toscana 2013, will take part in the "Fa' la Cosa Giusta" fair – Green Makers area – from 28th to 30th March in Milan, where the new version of JOS (Just One System), will be presented. With this extremely innovative illuminating engineering and recharging system it is possible to power and recharge electrical and electronic devices without the need for power cables.

By choosing the best and safest materials, the startup has designed an electrifiable, very low-tension pad on which it is possible to connect at the same time a large number of electrical and electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, notebooks, digital cameras, loud speakers, small electrical appliances, and led lighting systems. In addition, the pad can be customized with a choice of different shapes and colours to suit personal needs and taste.

JOS: Ariani e RomitiWith a mixture of invention, design and creative recycling, Jos Technology will take part in Milan in synergy with the makers of FabLab Pisa, proposing a common scenario: the products put forward by the company will be illustrated by the makers through various demonstrative phases typical of the short supply chain of self-production such as 3D printing and extrusion to recycle the various materials.

The JOS Technology team is made up of young people from different professions: Marco Ariani, an architect and designer, is the manager of the company; Eleonora Romiti, who has a degree in History of Art and Museography, is the communication manager; the designer Stefania Sagliocco cooperates on the commercial side; the engineers Gualtiero Fantoni and Daniele Mazzei deal with research and development. The JOS idea, now a patented system, was conceived by Marco Ariani: "As often happens, the inspiration came from a direct confrontation with simple experience," explains the startupper. "Being left-handed, the built-in light fonts on work stations, predestined for right-handed people, created shadows. And so I thought up JOS, a micro-perforated, low-tension, electrified pad on which it is possible to place electrical devices for powering and recharging without cables, in any position and grouping desired."

The JOS technology is looking ahead: in fact, the team is engineering further versions among which figure a portable pad with a built-in battery and direct photovoltaic power, and the JOS DATA, similar to a hub which will not only transport electrical energy but also data, and finally the JOS SCOTCH, where the system's utility will be transferred onto an extremely flexible base.
