Path: English / Students / Student services / University Student Counselling Service

Going to University constitutes a crucial stage towards the gaining of one's
independence.
As with many situations of change and growth, the passage to university studies
can give rise to certain difficulties connected, amongst other things, to the
fact that student life implies the separation from previous family and scholastic
contexts.
Once the obstacles connected to the insertion in this new context are overcome,
other difficulties can emerge due to problems more directly linked to studying,
with possible added factors of hardship, all of which can affect study results.
This service aims to provide assistance in overcoming these difficulties.
It
also coordinates initiatives (seminars, group meetings etc.) for
preventative psychological help and advice, particularly directed at
first and second year students.
The Counselling Service aims to meet the needs of students who encounter difficulty in tackling certain situations, such as the insertion in the university context, time management and organisation of study methods, relations with classmates and teachers, ability to concentrate and other conditions that can produce anxiety, a sense of ineffectiveness and lacking of motivation.
Those interested can make free use of a short series of individual meetings, each of about 45 minutes, with expert and qualified personnel. In particular cases, when needed, the service refers the student to more specific interventions.
